The book is in the form of a photography album with the name of a particular torture used as the title for the accompanying photograph of a woman in various poses inserted in a page pocket. Femmes fatales was produced by Maureen Cummins in the summer of 2001, with typographic assistance from Kathy McMillan " The list of names of torture and execution devices was compiled over a period of several years, as were the vintage photographs used to illustrate the book.--Colophon printed in an edition of fifty numbered copies, with copy number 1 containing the original photographs.
