A limited edition artist's book that documents the gendered beliefs about insanity that existed in the nineteenth century. Includes drawings by the sixteenth century anatomist, Andreas Vesalius. Edition of 30 copies, OCL has copy no.28, signed by the artist. The book is based on research that the artist conducted in the archives of McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA. Data was taken from original patient records spanning the years from 1819-1843. McLean was renowned for being one of the first and most progressive mental hospitals in the United States.
